Key Features
Equipped with a long interference tube for enhanced directionality and greater off-axis rejection, the Saramonic SoundBird T3L is an XLR shotgun microphone designed to easily capture clear and natural speech, dialogue, foley, and sound effects indoors or outside. It is outfitted with a set of built-in controls for adapting to the challenges that inevitably arise when recording audio on set. It includes a suite of accessories to ensure that you have all the tools necessary to start shooting right away for your next indie film, documentary, or sound gathering project.
The SoundBird T3L features an internal lithium-ion rechargeable battery, which provides up to 150 hours of run time. It can also be powered via +48V phantom power supplied from an XLR-equipped camera or recorder. At 15.5", the SoundBird T3L is well suited for use on a boompole or stand, and it can even be mounted on a camera shoe. The included shockmount and mic clip offer a variety of thread sizes as well as shoe mounts, allowing the mic to accommodate virtually any common mounting configuration. The mic comes with a protective foam windscreen and can benefit from a furry windshield (available separately) when recording in high-wind environments.
Long Shotgun Mic for Location Recording
The Saramonic SoundBird T3L is a supercardioid long shotgun microphone with the advanced technology and sound quality of the SoundBird T3 in a longer body with more focused directionality and off-axis rejection. It delivers clear, focused, broadcast-quality sound and provides a comprehensive set of vital, must-have accessories.
Ideal for Tough Environments
The all-brass construction is extremely durable and helps to reduce radio-frequency interference (RFI). Its long interference tube and ultralow-noise circuitry deliver natural on- and off-axis sound in any environment. The gold-plated XLR output provides the best possible signal transfer and resists corrosion.
Battery or Phantom Powered
The SoundBird T3L is powered by either 48V phantom power or its internal rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which provides power for up to 150 hours and recharges via USB. At 15.5" long, the SoundBird T3L is the ideal size for use on a boompole or stand, but also is capable of camera mounting for professional film and television productions.
Features and Controls to Tailor Your Sound
Several built-in controls let you tailor the shotgun's performance to your needs and achieve the best possible sound quality in a variety of situations. Two selectable high-pass filters (75 and 150 Hz) eliminate distracting deep bass frequencies like the rumble from HVAC, footsteps, and traffic noise that can ruin a recording. A +6 dB high-frequency boost compensates for frequencies that are lost when you use furry wind protection or a blimp, and it increases vocal intelligibility when using only a foam windscreen. A -10 dB pad makes it possible to capture loud sounds without clipping.
Illuminated Buttons
All of the buttons are illuminated so you can easily see the settings, and the On/Off button changes color based on power source. Press the power button twice and the five button indicators will show the remaining power of the internal battery. To ensure you can begin filming quickly even after you turn the mic off, all of your settings are saved when you turn the mic back on.
Includes Vital Accessories
You will need many accessories to use your shotgun microphone properly, and instead of making additional purchases, all these accessories are included with the SoundBird T3L. You get an SR-SMC3 premium shockmount with four replacement bands and an SR-SMC1 mic clip stand mount, allowing you to mount the T3L to boompoles, stands, or even shoe mounts of a camera. Both feature 1/4"-20, 3/8", 5/8", and cold shoe mounts, allowing you to mount the T3L into any setup or filming rig. You also get a 1.9' XLR output cable, a foam windscreen, and a micro-USB charging cable. You will have all of the essentials for capturing the quality sound for your productions and be ready to start recording, right out of the box.
