MagMod has put together this MagBox 24 Octa Pro Kit for photographers who want to maximize the potential of their speedlights while having the option to configure the system for use with strobes. The kit includes the 24" MagBox Octa softbox with diffuser, a MagRing that holds one or two flashes, a MagShoe for handholding or stand-mounting, and a set of CT correction gels. Also included is the FocusDiffuser which narrows the Octa's beam spread while increasing its output two or three stops. It all fits in the provided case.
Featuring a one-piece design and a magnetic base for very fast set up and breakdown, the 24" MagBox 24 Octa Softbox from MagMod is compatible with Profoto, Bowens, ElInchrom, or Paul C. Buff strobes with optional dedicated adapters and one or two speedlights with the addition of the MagGrip that is sold separately. One of the MagBox's most noticeable features is its evenness of output from edge to edge. Remarkably, this is done without an internal baffle and without exhibiting a hot spot. for personal expression, there are two available gel kits with a variety of colors that slip into the softbox's integrated gel holder, while there's also a CTO set for conversion of your light source to tungsten balance. Finally, sold separately, MagMod's FocusDiffuser functions like a grid and a lens combined, allowing you to control spill and direct the light while increasing its output.
Magnets inside the base of the MagBox make attachment fast, silent, and super strong. Even if you tilt your softbox at a deep angle or (for some reason) shoot inside a wind tunnel, the MagBox and the MagRing are staying put.
The MagBox is one solid piece. Pop it open with an easy click. with magnets in the base, you can throw it onto your MagRing in a second. When you're ready to remove the MagBox from the MagRing, simply press the Magnetic Field Disrupter. Then fold up the MagBox; it collapses in one neat, portable piece and can be stored safely in the MagBox Case.
The versatile MagBox can be used with one or two speedlights - any flash that has MagMod's patented MagGrip installed will work. Or use one of the available adapters to mount your Profoto, Bowens, ElInchrom, or Paul C. Buff strobe.
The calculated design of the MagBox 24 Octa distributes light evenly and without a hotspot, the reason why this softbox is devoid of an internal baffle. It can be used with one or two speedlights. The MagBox provides clean light quality and optimal output.
The MagMod MagRing is a lightweight universal speedlight mount that accepts up to two speedlights that have been outfitted with MagMod's MagGrip (MagGrip not included). The MagRing features a cold shoe mounting foot and can mount to a MagMod MagShoe for handheld or stand-mounted use. Magnetic attachments are at the heart of the MagRing and are used to hold MagMod's MagBox softbox. Magnets also secure your speedlights when mounted with the MagGrip, and the MagRing incorporates locking doors for further security.
Neodymium magnets inside the MagGrip (not included) allow speedlights to attach securely to the MagRing without tools or locking knobs.
with your speedlights magnetically attached to the MagRing, close the rear latching doors for additional security.
The MagRing system is incredibly fast as it uses magnets and latches to secure your speedlights. This toolless mounting method makes for rapid setup and breakdown.
MagRing works with MagBox accessories.
The MagMod MagShoe for MagRing is a lightweight ergonomic holder for your MagRing flash holder. The MagShoe can be mounted to a stand with a 5/8" pin or easily carried handheld, and it accepts either a flash or the MagRing using a cold shoe mounting system. It is designed to operate with only one hand, leaving your other hand available to hold your camera, which allows you to mount your flash or MagRing and lock it in place with a single hand.
The single-handed operation extends to the tilt function, which is controlled by a simple trigger that you squeeze to release the lock. This allows you to have a secure grip on the MagShoe while locking or unlocking it with the same hand that is holding it secure. Releasing the trigger engages the tilt lock, which allows the MagShoe to support your MagRing, two flashes, and the MagBox softbox. It integrates an umbrella mounting hole with lock, allowing you to create that familiar soft look. The plastic exterior of the MagShoe is gentle on your hands, and will not accidently trigger your flash via its hot-shoe mounting foot.
The built-in locking lever is designed to be locked or unlocked using only one hand. It features an integrated locking ring that locks your flash or MagRing in place without using the locking ring on your flash.
When mounted on a stand, you can tilt the MagShoe forward or back over a Range of 155° by simply squeezing the trigger and tilting the unit. Releasing the trigger re-engages the tilt lock. this is a single-handed operation that does not require tightening or loosening locking levers or knobs.
The travel-friendly MagMod MagBox Case is designed to hold, protect, and transport your MagBox Light, MagRing, two MagShoes, two speedlight flahses, two FocusDiffusers, and twenty four or more MagBox Gels.
Featuring a unique design that employs micro-structures, the MagBox 24 Octa FocusDiffuser from MagMod functions like a combination of a grid and a lens to modify the softbox's beam spread. Attaching in seconds via integrated magnets, the FocusDiffuser narrows the wide beam to 20 or 40 degrees depending on orientation, while it increases the output two to three stops.
Inside the FocusDiffuser, micro-structures alter the angle of light in 40- or 20-degree beam angles, softly redirecting light forward and causing less spill.
The FocusDiffuser gives you the same increase in effective light output potential as that in a larger modifier.
Create flattering soft light and place it exactly where you want it. The FocusDiffuser limits spill light to give you the control you need to work more efficiently and save time in post.
The FocusDiffuser attaches to the MagBox in seconds, quietly and easily via integrated magnets. And when you're done with it, you can roll it up neatly and store it safely inside your MagBox Case.
The MagBox's output with the FocusDiffuser is up to 2.8 stops brighter. It gives you the softness you'd expect with the control and precision of a grid.
Put together by MagMod to assist photographers in converting their speedlight's daylight color balance to tungsten or to warm or cool its quality of light, the Correction Gel Kit contains eight rigid polycarbonate gels that slip into the integrated slot in the MagBox Octa. The set includes a Full CTO, 1/2 CTO, and, 1/4 CTO filters, as well as Full CTB, 1/2 CTB, Full Plus Green, 1/2 Plus Green, and an 8x ND filter. The gels require separate purchase of a MagGrip for use.
