The LighTrack II has been designed for astrophotographers who do not want to make compromises in their beloved field. Looks and functionality go hand-in-hand in perfect unison. Its compact size, lightweight but robust body paired with outstanding tracking accuracy makes the LighTrack II an ideal choice in the market of portable trackers.
At the heart of the LighTrack is the precision motor and the friction drive. The fine friction strip makes the movement of the mount very balanced. . The amazing unguided tracking accuracy of the LighTrack is in its own league. Capturing pin sharp stars at 200 mm or more focal length has never been easier. The LighTrack II also presents the best available value-for-money price without any compromises. The peak-to-peak unguided tracking error of the LighTrack is less than 2 arcseconds in eight minutes measuring, a significantly lower value than most other products feature. Measuring and adjusting the tracking rate is not an issue anymore, since this unit runs at just the right speed to prevent image trailing. The LighTrack provides you with optimum tracking accuracy due to strict production tolerances and it is guaranteed to stay reliable for years to come. All LighTrack units are individually calibrated at the factory, so you do not have to worry about the tracking rate.
The LighTrack II weighs only 1.3 kg (2.9 lbs). The length is 280 mm (11”), the width is 140 mm (5.5 “) and the height is 40 mm (1.6”). The built is exceptionally massive despite its light weight. All metal components are made from 7075 aluminium alloy reinforced with magnesium, a matterial developed in the building of aircrafts (Please notice this material has poorly anodizing nature which can causes some spots on the surface!). The housing is made of a carbon-composite plastic with a multi-layered, UV and abrasion-proof coating to provide further durability.
Using the LighTrack II is not only a piece of cake, it is also a lot of fun. The retractable arm makes the ergonomics of polar alligment easy. Mount the polar scope and set the arm in a position most comfortable to you. The mount is compatible with 2D and 3D heads as it features both ¼-” and â ” threads. Devices can be connected with the mount through a standard â ” thread.
The LighTrack II runs on 12V DC. The LighTrack II comes with a cigarette lighter charger cable that can be connected to a powerbank or even to your car. Alternatively, use any 12V DC center positive battery. The mini USB port enables the mount to be updated to the latest software version through your computer. An autoguiding plug rounds things off yielding even more tracking accuracy.
