Mechanically, it totally first-rate, from its smooth focus, zoom and iris rotations, To its resistance To expansion from solar heat.

To reduce chromatic aberration the CN-E14.5-60mm T2.6L S/ L SP zoom lenses employ anomalous dispersion (AD) glass. When light passes through a lens, it refracts (bends). It also breaks up into its constituent colors, just like light passing through a prism. The lower the refractive index of the lens material, the less it bends and the sharper it can be focused. Similarly, the lower the dispersion ratio, the less the light is broken up, which makes it easier To correct chromatic aberration. AD glass is similar To fluorite in that it features a low refractive index and low dispersion. Using AD glass Canon has been able To manufacture lenses with superior performance at a lower cost.

Using the latest advances from new ghosting simulation (optical simulation), that been refined through Canon broadcast HD zoom lens development, an anti-reflective lens coating offers reduced ghosting and flare.

within the optical construction of the zoom lenses large aspherical lenses are deployed To reduce distortion and deliver unrivalled optical performance. In the early days, all lenses were spherical - they are the easiest lens shape To make, but are not best suited To rendering a sharp image as they cannot make parallel rays of light converge at the same point. This causes a problem called spherical aberration. Canon designers discovered that an aspherical (non-spherical) lens shape would eliminate these spherical aberrations, because the curvature of the lens could be used To converge the light rays To a single point.

    Cinema Zoom Lenses
Canon brilliant Cinema Zoom lenses offer extraordinary optical performance for demanding high-end productions. with fluorite, aspherical lens elements, and advanced optical design, these lenses cover the Range most commonly used in cinema shooting. Some of the lightest and smallest lenses in their class, these lenses offer consistent form factors and markings optimized for motion picture production. Sharing the same gear position, diameter and rotation angle, and front diameter the lenses' compatibility with third-party accessories allows crews To easily change lenses without making adjustments To the rig setup.

Additional lenses are already under development, reflecting Canon commitment To offer a broad Range of professional cinema lenses To meet your needs, now and in the future.

To facilitate the accurate transfer of imaging data between the lens and camera body, the extender features an integrated processor which ensures all focusing, metering and ID information is available - allowing the photographer to capture balanced, well-exposed images. When combined with the latest Range of premium Canon L-series lenses, these extenders enable AF accuracy even when capturing moving subjects. When attached, the 2x extender reduces the effective maximum aperture by 2 stops.

A carefully positioned lens release mechanism also makes it easy to mount the extenders quickly, reducing the time that the camera and lens are exposed to the environment. The extenders offer the exceptional build-quality expected from Canon's professional products, and are resistant to both dust and water, allowing photographers to use them in extreme shooting conditions.
